People are starting to buy Juicy Couture sweatpants again, Paris Hilton just launched her new clothing line with Boohoo (yes, it features a bedazzled “That’s Hot” bright pink bodysuit) and oversized hoops are cool again. It’s a fact – the 2000s are back and better than ever. And it seems almost every brand is scrambling to capitalize on our nostalgia, even high fashion brands like Dior.
And so, 18 years later, Dior featured a redo of the iconic saddle bag in their most recent 2018 collection. That’s right people, the saddle bag is back!! And better than ever! You might remember the saddle bag being carried in the early 2000s by the likes of J-Lo, Beyonce, and early 2000s fashion icon, Carrie Bradshaw herself. And since it’s most recent runway debut celebrities like Kate Bosworth, Katie Holmes, Olivia Palermo and Jessica Alba have been spotted wearing them.
The bag was originally designed in 1999 when John Galliano led the house. Dior’s newest creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, (of “We Should All Be Feminists” fame), brought back this timeless (and extremely recognizable) shape at her Fall 2018 show in March.
"I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty," Grazia stated in a press release. "I consider this icon of the house's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with the battle that is daily life.”
You can now shop all 15 versions of the bag and transport yourself to a time when things were simple – when low-cut jeans and rhinestones reigned supreme.
